This was our first novice gala of the year. We had 2 teams, Blue and White, made up of our younger less experienced swimmers, with a couple of our more experienced ones. The teams were managed by Matt and David and organised by Jane and Lisa, assisted by myself and Stuart.
It was a noisy, lively gala. We got off to a slow start after a couple of technical hitches, but soon the evening was moving quickly along.
For many of our swimmers it was their first ever gala (some swimming 50 m for the first time) and the noise and atmosphere must have been daunting for them. We hope we kept them calm and not too frightened. But they all swam their hardest and many PBs were achieved!
The Blue team came 2nd overall, beaten by Lowestoft and the White team came 5th out of 6. The Blue girls and Blue boys came 2nd, while the White girls came 5th and the White boys 3rd.
A massive well done to everyone who swam and represented the club so well.
We will be holding another novice gala in the future months so hopefully we can win the trophy back from Lowestoft!
