Training at the Olympic pool

On Saturday 22nd October, we took 42 swimmers to Stratford to train in the Olympic pool. Most travelled in two coaches that left Felixstowe early in the morning and the swimmers were accompanied by various parents and friends.

We had hired four lanes of the pool for two hours and the swimmers spent their time swimming then practised their diving. The session culminated in a mixed ability relay race. After the swimmers had got changed many were able to witness head coach David swimming himself and critique his technique!

For many swimmers this was their first opportunity to swim in a 50m pool and their first time swimming where some of their idols had won medals. What a fabulous inspiration for them all.

Swimmers, parents and friends took the opportunity of visiting Westfield after their session to grab some food and a little retail therapy before catching the coach back home.

Thanks to the committee for organising the day, to David, Matt, Jason and Amanda for coaching and Lisa and Jane for helping out poolside.
