Beth Young and I were selected by the Suffolk coaches to represent, and swim for the Suffolk team during the inter counties based on our performances during the counties. The competition was held at UEA Norwich, in a 50m pool. We were unaware of the events we were chosen to swim in, so we had to be prepared for anything.
Beth was selected to swim in the 50m Breastroke, 4x50m Freestyle relay and the 4x50m Medley relay (Breastroke leg) based on her amazing swims in the county finals. I was selected to swim in the 100m Freestyle, 4x50m Freestyle relay and the 4x50m Medley relay (Freestyle leg).
Beth was up first and brought a brilliant attitude and approach to her swims and came out with good solid performances. If she was nervous, she defiantly didn’t show it considering the competitive atmosphere in an unfamiliar environment. The Suffolk team as a whole performed very well, gaining many 1st place swims which resulted in Suffolk winning 1st place overall against Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. Both Beth and I came out with some good results and enjoyed representing Suffolk, Felixstowe Waves itself and hope to be given the opportunity to swim for Suffolk again.
