Suffolk Masters & Senior Age Group County Championships at Sudbury – Valentines Meet.

This year’s competitive masters swimming season opened on the 18th February with a team of 8 Felixstowe swimmers competing in the Suffolk Masters & Senior Age Group County Championships at Sudbury.  (The senior band is for swimmers aged 16 – 24 years with masters age bands starting for 25 years and over).

Our swimmers did really well and between then came away with 22 Gold medals, 7 Silver medals and 3 Bronze medals.  This was the first seniors/masters gala for two of our swimmers Aprille Branton who won 2 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes and Caroline Cofield who won 3 golds and 2 silvers.  Geoff Eagles netted 3 golds and a 2 silver, new dad Adam Spear, despite a sleepless night beforehand won a Gold (in the 200m butterfly!)  and a Silver, Alice Theobald won a gold, silver and a bronze, Nancy Wright won 2 golds and Gemma Cannon and Jon Wills won 5 golds apiece.  Top club went to West Suffolk who fielded 11 swimmers, but Felixstowe was a very big presence on the day. We are looking forward to more success through the year. The next gala that is open for entry is the Newmarket on Sunday 22nd April for ages 16+.

Thank you to David, Carol all the other teachers, committee and others who have supported and encouraged us.
