On Saturday 28th January a team of us went to the novice gala at Leiston.
For some of the team it was their first gala and so there was a mixture of excitement and nerves. The older swimmers in the team knew what to expect and so we helped the younger swimmers get ready for their races.
The gala had a good mix of races for each age group, along with lots of different relay races. There were relays for different ages, as well as a mixed team, a medley relay and the final race was a freestyle cannon for the whole team.
Everyone did really well and lots of us came in first and second in our races. We all had lots of fun. Thank you to Frankie and Mia for supporting us at the end of the lane and to Lisa, Allison and Matt for looking after us all evening.

The team finished second overall with 127 points. St Felix won the event with 151 points and Beccles, Leiston Tigers and Leiston Lions took the third, fourth and fifth places with 102, 82 and 45 points respectively. Head Coach David said “Congratulations to all those swimmers who swam at Leiston. 2nd overall is an outstanding achievement. The future looks extremely bright. A big shout out to the older swimmers and helpers who guided the swimmers poolside! Well done all.”
