For the 10th year the Great East Swim took place at Alton water. This year’s event was held on the 17th June and was the inaugural year for the Great East SwimRun. It was a very hot June day with a water temperature of 19C
A number of our swimmers took part, along with a couple of parents, over the 250m, 1 mile, 2 mile, and 5km swimming distances as well as the SwimRun.
Seamus Bennett completed the inaugural Great East SwimRun event. This comprised of 4 swims (totalling 2.4k), 3 runs (total 9.5km) which took them all the way around the reservoir. This was done as a pair and they completed it in 2hrs 2 mins.
A number of our swimmers took part in the Great East Schools Swim which is a 250m swim to introduce pupils to open water swimming.

Stuart Evans, one of our Platinum swimmers, entered the 1 mile event. He completed his heat in 22mins 1sec coming in 1st. Overall he came 4th in his age group and 6th out of 570 participants.
The 5km swim was taken on by Adam Spear, who swims with our Masters Squad. He completed the swim in 1hr 15mins 14secs coming 13th out of 171 participants.
2 of the clubs parents took part in the 2 mile and 5km events. They both train very hard prior to the swim and both completed their chosen distance.
