On 20 August Brendan Bennett from Platinum squad, took part in the Gartan Swim Challenge in County Donegal, Ireland. This open event takes place in Gartan Lake in the beautiful Glenveigh national park. The peat-coloured water was a chilly 16C but Brendan doesn’t like wetsuits so went ahead and won the 750m race in skins in just 12:10, fighting off a late challenge from a very good Irish female swimmer. Brendan’s excellent open water ‘sighting’ skills were key to his victory. He may have to return next year as the trophy has to be returned!
